The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
